Dots on the Negative

I’ve always loved the look of nail art with negative space behind it.  Being able to see your natural nail behind some cool nail art has a real clean feel to it.  In this case, I thought it would look cute to add some random-sized polka dots onto your nails.  To give it an extra shine, I had to add a bit of a sparkle to the mani.

Items Needed:

  • Nail Art Brush
  • Fast Dry top coat
  • Base Coat
  • White Acrylic paint
  • Toothpick

Polishes Used:

Step 1: After applying your base coat, apply two coats of a nude see-through polish.  It’s not necessary to add this polish, but I think it makes the finish look much neater.  Then apply your quick dry topcoat and let dry.

Step 2: Then using your white acrylic paint and nail art brush, paint half circles on your nails wherever you want.  This step helps you figure out where you want the rest of your dots to be placed.  Some of the circles can continue on the other nails.  If you make any mistakes just scratch it off with a toothpick.

Step 3: Then continue the different sized dots all over your nails.  Don’t mind the bumps, they’ll go away when applying the topcoat.

Step 4: For some shine, add a fine glitter polish to your nails.

Step 5:  Put on your topcoat and you’re all done.
